What it takes
Fire-rescue responders having First Medical Responder (FMR) or Emergency Medical Technician
(EMT) training are essential providers of pre-hospital care, delivering rapid, lifesaving treatment in critical moments. Their training covers patient assessment, CPR and AED use, airway
management, bleeding control, trauma care, and medical emergencies such as cardiac events,
strokes, and respiratory distress. These responders often arrive first on scene, stabilizing patients,
administering basic or advanced life support within their scope, and preparing individuals for
transport by ambulance services. They train regularly to maintain certification, refine skills, and
coordinate seamlessly with fire crews and paramedics, making them a vital link in the chain of survival within our community. Compensation is provided for each run.

Firefighter training center
New Firefighter Training Center Coming to Marion soon
The Firefighter Training Center is a work in progress funded by local citizens and grants nearing completion in the summer of 2026. Design, fundraising and creation have been under the direction of Marion Fire Assistant Chief, Bruce Tower. When completed multiple chambers will allow skills training in fire location, forced door entry, roof entry, navigation through smoke and rescue techniques. In addition to training Marion firefighters, the center will allow instruction for firefighters from fire stations in neighboring communities as well.
